Poland to accelerate investment in broadband projects, schools network, zero-rate e-govt sites

The Polish government has introduced new anti-crisis measures to support the economy in various fields, including the ICT sector, according to the statement from the Ministry of Digitalisation. These include setting up a Broadband Fund this year, a year earlier than previously planned. The fund will be used to support telecommunications projects in areas where operators don't invest.

Happiness Biotech started exporting disposable hand sanitizer to Poland

Happiness Biotech Group Limited, an innovative China-based nutraceutical and dietary supplements producer, announced today that the Company has received the CE certification from Istituto Servizi Europei Tecnologici ("ISET") for disposable hand sanitizer and started exporting this week. The first seven containers of 500,000 bottles of disposable hand sanitizer have been shipped to Malaysia, Australia and Poland.



Poland allocates $25Bln to support businesses amid coronavirus outbreak

The Polish government decided to allocate 100 billion zlotys ($25 billion) to support businesses across the country in light of the coronavirus outbreak (...) "We want to propose and quickly implement specific solutions for workers and companies, to safeguard jobs, to prevent mass bankruptcies, liquidation of companies. Today we offer an unprecedented financial package. We are sending at least 100 billion zlotys directly to companies," Morawiecki said.


EBRD to help Estonia's Enefit Green expand solar energy in Poland

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Thursday it will provide a 40 million euro ($44 million) loan to Estonia’s Enefit Green to help the company develop solar energy in coal-reliant Poland. Poland generates almost 80% of its energy from coal, but under European Union pressure to reduce carbon emissions the government has encouraged investment in solar panels.


PKP Cargo and LG Cargo have a letter of intent regarding intermodal transport to Lithuania

PKP Cargo and LG Cargo (a subsidiary of the Lithuanian Railways - Lietuvos Geležinkeliai) signed a letter of intent regarding the possible establishment of a joint venture company servicing intermodal rail connections between Poland and Lithuania, PKP Cargo said (...) "50 million tons of cargo is transported annually between Poland and Lithuania, but only about 1% of this mass is transported by rail. Automotive companies have a monopoly on these transports and we want rail to take over some of these loads" - said Warsewicz, quoted in the announcement.


EU gives green light to 115 million euro Polish virus measures

The European Union has approved a 527 million zloty (115 million euro) scheme by the Polish government to support its economy during the coronavirus pandemic (...) "(The) scheme will allow Poland to relieve companies of part of the interest they have to pay on loans, thus alleviating their financial burden in the current crisis," said Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President in charge of competition policy.
